Ep #201: Should You Go Part-Time After Mat Leave?

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | Should You Go Part-Time After Mat Leave?

Should you go part-time after maternity leave? It’s a question that many women lawyers grapple with as they prepare to return to work after having a baby. On one hand, you want to be there for your child and soak up all those precious early moments. But on the other hand, you’ve worked hard to build your career and don’t want to lose momentum.

In this episode, I share my own experience of going back to work after mat leave, both full-time with my first child and part-time with my second. I also draw upon the experiences of friends and clients to offer a well-rounded perspective on the pros and cons of each approach.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but by the end of this discussion, you’ll have greater clarity on the key factors to consider in making this highly personal decision. We’ll look at everything from finances and childcare logistics to your long-term career goals and values. Most importantly, you’ll come away knowing that there’s no wrong choice – only the one that feels right for you and your family.

I’m hosting a new six-month group coaching program dedicated to supporting women lawyers, just like you, in your practice and your personal life. Click here for more information and stay tuned for the next opportunity to register.
