Ep #253: How to Avoid Making the Wrong Decision

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | How to Avoid Making the Wrong Decision

Are you sitting with a decision that feels heavy or difficult to resolve? In this episode, I talk about what makes certain decisions so hard, especially when the alternatives feel uncertain and the status quo feels safer, even if it is no longer working. Whether the decision relates to your career, your family, or another important area of your life, this conversation offers perspective and support as you think about your next step.

I share three ways to approach decision-making when you feel stuck. We look at the role of time, including why it helps to give a decision a clear container without rushing it or leaving it open indefinitely. I also talk about weighing a decision using more than logic alone, making space for facts, feelings, and the unknown elements that only unfold once a choice is made.

I also offer a different way to think about the fear of making the wrong decision. Instead of dividing choices into right and wrong, I invite you to see decisions as part of a process of learning and forward movement. If you have been circling the same question for some time, this episode will help you approach that decision with more trust in yourself and a clearer sense of what to do next.
