Ep #37: How to Set Boundaries with Ease

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | How to Set Boundaries with Ease

I say this with love for all of you, but lawyers often aren’t the best at setting boundaries. This was definitely my reality and still can be at times, and it’s an experience that I know is familiar to many of my clients. It’s not that you don’t know how to, but when the time comes, it can be challenging in the moment to assert them.

If you find yourself fearful of leaving people high and dry, even when you don’t have the time or energy, and resentment is an emotion that comes up often for you, chances are boundary-setting is your work. So this week, I’m helping you cross the threshold from wanting to set boundaries but feeling paralyzed, to actually following through on them.

Ep #36: Systems Checklist for Saving Time

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | Systems Checklist for Saving Time

Are overwhelm, chronic disorganization or procrastination common experiences for you in your practice? I’ve found that time and practice management are topics that have been coming up often in my coaching conversations, and the lawyers I work with are wanting to create systems in their practices for various reasons.

Whether you’re looking for a way to get on top of what currently feels uncontrollable, or it’s a matter of revisiting and updating old processes, this week, I’m giving you ideas for enhancing your systems. Carving out the time to set up systems isn’t particularly fun or exciting, but believe me when I tell you building out systems that feel aligned will be a lifesaver to you as you up-level.

Ep #35: The 4 Pillars of a Joyful Practice

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | The 4 Pillars of a Joyful Practice

So many of my clients come to me feeling out of sorts, whether it’s a sense of overwhelm or frustration at work, not knowing how to set boundaries, or even feeling trapped in their careers. Experiencing joy in their work feels so far out of reach, and if you currently can’t imagine what a joyful practice would look and feel like either, you’re in the right place.

This week, I’m sharing with you a four-part framework I’ve developed that will show you exactly where to start looking if you can relate. These pillars are going to narrow down what might be going on for you, so you can see both the problem and the solution with clarity and stop spending precious time and energy spinning in confusion.

You might be listening to the internal story of having invested so much time and money that it would be crazy to give it all up, and you’re stuck.

Clients are always reaching out to me about what they can do with their law degree other than practice law, and my guest this week is the perfect person to talk to about this topic. Juanita Ingram, Esq. is an award-winning attorney, filmmaker, author, fashion philanthropist, and actress. Ep #33: Your Best Year Yet

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | Your Best Year Yet

We are well into the first week of the new year, which means you’re probably back at work and your routines are starting up again. I personally love this time of year because I see it as an opportunity to start afresh, to pick up where we left off and set ourselves up with goals.

If you’ve ever set New Year’s resolutions, you’re likely familiar with the disappointment, frustration, and the eventual quitting of the goals you set out to accomplish. This is such a common experience when we can’t go after our goals as perfectly as we envisioned, so today, I’m offering a new way for you to approach 2022 to make it your best year yet.

Ep #32: Celebrating Your Success

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | Celebrating Your Success

As the New Year looms, many of us are spending time reflecting on the past year and thinking about the things we want to accomplish in 2022. We set New Year’s resolutions, often based on what we see as failures or missteps from the year, but I think we need a more useful reframe for moving forward.

I think of this period as the perfect time to celebrate our successes and to take stock of everything we’ve accomplished over the course of the year. This is something we really don’t do enough of because it’s so much easier to focus on the obstacles we faced and all the ways things didn’t go our way, but it’s more important than you might think.

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | Is it Time to Move On?

Last week, I had an amazing conversation with career expert Natalie Fisher all about the job search process and how to know when it’s time to leave your job. And this week, I wanted to follow up on that episode because this topic is coming up more and more in my conversations with lawyers.

Whether it’s because we’re approaching the New Year, or because it’s been almost two years since we’ve all been in this global pandemic, there’s a theme of lawyers reaching out to me because they’re seriously thinking about leaving their position. For some, it’s a decision they’re just pondering for now, and for others, it’s a decision that’s been weighing heavily on their minds for years, and wherever you land, I’m offering my best tips to help you move forward.

I’ve personally had the pleasure of being a part of her program and being coached by her, and I was so drawn to her work that I knew I had to share her with you.

As a high-achieving woman, I know that your professional work brings up various types of challenges, and they don’t just arise in isolation. The truth is that the obstacles we face in our professional lives and in our marriages or long-term partnerships often overlap, and Maggie is here to provide tools that will help you be who you want to be in all of your relationships.

Ep #28: How to Uncover Your Blind Spots

The Joyful Practice for Women Lawyers with Paula Price | How to Uncover Your Blind Spots

My clients often come to me with questions like, “What am I not seeing here? What am I doing wrong? What else should I be looking for?” And for me, one of the highlights of being a coach is having these types of conversations and watching them have a-ha moments of clarity.

We all have our own particular blind spots, but of course, as the name suggests, when we can’t see something, there’s not much we can do to fix it. While it’s great having a coach by your side to show you where your blind spots are, today, I’m offering a tool you can use right now so you can see them for yourself and generate a-ha moments.
